Gas pain

Too much gas inside the digestive tract will result to a lot of discomfort. This can be due to excessive swallowing of air or because of certain bacteria that can produce gases within the body. When gas is produced in excessive amount, this will result to pain which is termed as gas pain.

The symptom of the presence of excess gas within the digestive tract is belching wherein the person will expel the excessive gas out from the body. Belching occasionally after eating meals is normal. But chronic belching can be due to several gastrointestinal disorders. Other symptoms are discomfort, abdominal bloating, flatulence and abdominal pain. Causes of Gas Pain

There are some individuals who swallow excess air regularly. These people are oftentimes not aware of the problem and this will at times be related to anxiety. This kind of air is composed mostly of oxygen and nitrogen. While most amounts of oxygen will be absorbed by the body, it is actually the nitrogen that will result to flatulence. Gas formation can result from the consumption of heavy meals which are rich in fatty foods or food which contain carbohydrates which are poorly absorbed. It is bacteria that can break poorly absorbed carbohydrates inside the colon to become hydrogen and carbon dioxide. In cases where flatulence goes with diarrhea and weight loss, this can be referred to as the symptoms of pancreatic insufficiency as well as lactose intolerance. There are some foods such as cabbage, cauliflower, beans, broccoli, radish, sprouts and many more are recognized in producing gas. At times, having an empty stomach may also result to gas formation and succeeding pain.
